New Choreography!
Recently, I choreographed three more solos for dancers at my studio. I choreographed a contemporary piece for my sister and a contemporary and jazz solo for another student of mine, Rena. I can't wait to see how they do at competitions and see them bring my visions to life!
Design for Dance Internship
Over the summer of 2016, I was lucky to have been given the opportunity to work with Robin Zander and Katherine Hill as an intern for Design for Dance, an organization that works to enhance productivity and employee well being at work through dance. I spent the majority of my time typing up white papers (research papers) documenting solutions for specific problems and creating surveys for work employees. I have learned so much from this experience, learning how to use organizational psychology to develop the best possible outcomes, and it has certainly added to my knowledge about the business world!
Hall of Fame Nationals 2016
The week of July 2nd, I traveled with my studio to Las Vegas for Hall of Fame's national dance competition! I ended up placing third overall with my solo, Silence, and qualified to compete in the Solo Showdown. My duet, Woman's Work, placed 1st and won the duet showdown! I was so incredibly excited -- our hard work definitely paid off!

Hall of Fame Regionals 2016
The weekend of April 2-3, I competed at Hall of Fame in San Jose. My small senior group and my senior line won 1st overall, and my duet "Woman's Work" also won first!

However, the most memorable thing about this competition was my solo awards! I got a Grand Slam (a near to perfect score!) for my contemporary solo "Why" and won 2nd overall! I also won the Technique Award and Best in Category for my jazz solo "Minx" and my lyrical solo "Silence". Because I had the two highest scoring solos, I was named the Inductee for senior solos, so my video was put on the Hall of Fame website!
I was so incredibly excited about these results, and I can't wait to see what next competition brings!

KAR 2016
On February 12-14, I attended my first regional dance competition of the season! I competed at KAR in San Mateo, and my lyrical solo "Silence" won 1st overall! I was so excited and honored to receive this award because I've been working so hard on my solo, and this solo has been one of my favorites of all time! I couldn't stop smiling afterwards; it felt great to know that all my hard work paid off! Also, my lyrical duet "Woman's Work" won 1st overall, and so did my senior small group and senior line! What an amazing weekend!!

Benefit Show 2016
This year, I had the privilege of performing with my school's dance class at the 5th annual Benefit Show in San Ramon. High schools and dance teams from around the area came together to put on a show to raise funds for the Make A Wish Foundation. I was honored to have been given the opportunity to dance for a cause as great as this! Knowing that I helped raise money to grant wishes to medically challenged children in the Bay Area. I am looking forward to participating again next year!
